A downloadable game for Windows

In the 2D side-scroller Thunderbird Strike, fly from the Tar Sands to the Great Lakes as a thunderbird protecting Turtle Island with searing lightning against the snake that threatens to swallow the lands and waters whole.

Thunderbird Strike is best played on smartphones and tablets but also made available on PC.

Download Instructions:

1. Download zipped files.

2. Unzip files.

3a. For Windows, open the folder and then open the exe file.

3b. For Mac, open the dmg file, install, and then open the app. Having issues? Go to System Preferences, and open Security & Privacy. In the General Tab, under "Allow apps downloaded from," you should see the game and be able to click on Open Anyway!

Windows PC Instructions: Thunderbird Strike was made for mobile devices, so you'll need to tinker a bit for the PC version!

  • Adjust your volume before playing or use volume keys on your keyboard during gameplay.
  • Use the W A S D keys to move.
  • Fly into the clouds to gather lightning.
  • Press Spacebar to use lightning.

Hi Elizabeth, I am wondering how after making this game has this experience changed how you see Sovereignty being enacted with Native Americans? Do you use video games as a source of migration away from the US?
